Brilliant African boy beats 76 contestants to win National Math Competition, bags $26,000 scholarship award

A Brilliant boy named Kevin Kemboi from Kapsabet High School, Nandi County, Kenya has emerged as the overall winner in the Kenyan National Mathematics contest after beating 76 other contestants.

Kevin, a 2023 Kenya Certificate for Senior Secondary Certificate (KSCE) candidate outshine all his competitors from 76 other High Schools to clinch the Ksh3.5 million ($26,000) scholarship to study in any university in Australia.

In his reaction, he said that although mathematics was his favourite subject, he never expected to win the contest.

The academic scholarship was courtesy of Grace International Migration, an organization that links students to institutions of higher learning in the UK, US, India, and other international countries.

In an interview with Kenyan news, Olivia Toroitich, Kemboi’s teacher spoke with so much pride saying that Kevin is likely to be the top student in the 2023 KSCE exam.

“He won the same award in 2022, beating all students, we expect him to perform excellent” Olivia remarked.

Kevin was excited about the scholarship and thanked God and his teachers for the inspiration. “I thank God Almighty, and also my teachers for the inspiration, I promise to do my best while in Australia”, he said.

Kevin excited about the scholarship, expressed his gratitude to God, and his teachers for the inspiration.

“I thank God Almighty, and also my teachers for the inspiration, I promise to do my best while in Australia” He said with so much happiness.

He also thanked Grace international immigration for giving him the  opportunity and promised not to let them down.” I appreciate Grace International Group for giving me this scholarship”.

He also promised to work very hard and make sure to achieve his dream of studying surgical medicine. “I will work very hard to ensure that I realize my dream of studying medicine surgery option since I know I have what it takes,” he added.

Kevin said he won the contest because he studied very hard and revised well enough before the contest.

“Honestly I wasn’t expecting to win but I was sure of performing well, I worked hard enough and revised well and prayed to God and God has answered my prayers,” Kemboi explained.
