Exceptional Lady enjoys free study in UK after emerging one of the winners of UK Chevening scholarship, beat 1,979 other applicants
An exceptional Ghanian Lady, Wendy Atswei Laryea, has bagged the prestigious Chevening scholarship award after being among the 21 selected winners of Ghana, beating out 1,979 other applicants.
Wendy Atswei Laryea, who is a TV3 presenter and broadcast journalist, received a Chevening scholarship to study for her Master’s degree program in Management/Corporate Sustainability at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom.
She applied for the Chevening Scholarship in 2020 for the first time and at the time, she only ended up at the reserve spot, failing to win the award.
Narrating her story through her Linkedin page, she explained that some of her colleagues who are Chevening scholars motivated and encouraged her to give it a second try in 2021.
“For my “Tribe”, including Gabriel Obodai Torgbor-Ashong (a 2018 Chevening Scholar and John Elliot Hagan (a 2020 Chevening Scholar) they believed I was a “winnable” candidate and encouraged me to give it a second try,” she recounted.
Chevening Scholarship is a Fully Funded scholarship sponsored by the UK government every year to allow international students study and live for free in the UK. The Scholarship opportunity opens around July of every year and closes around November of every year.
